Five for Friday Special - Amazon Prime Day

We scoured the world's biggest retailer for something like a deal, so you don't have to.

Amazon is the world’s biggest retailer, which also happens to sell watches. The selection there is, put kindly, not great. Sure, the big brands are there, Timex, Citizen, a few Seiko’s, but it’s largely fashion watches, Invictas, and a bunch of AliExpress watches for people who don’t realise the same thing is available on Ali for less money.

So, we did not go in to put with high hopes. But as we spent time of the platform looking for essential supplies for the W5C offices, we found five watches that might just be having you contributing to the Jeff Bezos wedding fund.

Cestrian Field Series

“It’s just a damn good automatic beater for the price”, says a random Reddit post. We’d agree; the Cestrian Field is one of our favourite watches; looks good, got a Seiko engine and priced right at $150. 40mm makes it comfortable on almost any wrist.

Specs: 40mm case, date, military strap, NH35 movement, “damn good automatic”, $150 Prime Day

Berny Automatic Diver

Three things we like about this watch: it runs on a Miyota 8205, it has an internal dive bezel, and it’s yellow. Berny makes “oh what the hell” watches that you buy off Ali, and when you do, you’re happy. Now you can get it tomorrow for $130.

Specs: 42mm case, silicon strap, Miyota 8205 automatic movement, 2ATM, beach worthy.

Citizen Men's Promaster Diver Automatic Watch NY0120-52X

Now we’re getting a bit more serious. (A bit.) 200 meter Day-Date Diver from a brand known to make seriously reliable watches. Got sort of a summer-time, drinks on the pier vibe. Prime-priced at $243, we think this is one of the better values as well.

Specs: 41mm diameter, stainless steel case and strap, Citizen automatic, 200 meters

Timex Men's Expedition Acadia TW4B08100

Our second field watch is the best deal of all. At $34, this is a beater watch you can actually beat around. The Expedition Series is a fairly iconic line from Timex; a field watch that is designed to be taken out into the field.

Specs: 40mm case resin case, quartz movement, 50m water resistance (this is more a land watch), get Snoopy on it for a few bucks more.

About Vintage 1982 GMT World Traveler Watch

Well hello there! About Vintage, the Copenhagen based design shop creating (not surprisingly) vintage inspired watches makes this Ronda-powered GMT. This chrome-plated beauty, at $466, is around $100 less than we’ve seen it listed on other sites. And though not technically a Prime deal…it’s still a deal for a gorgeous watch.

Specs: 41mm, Swiss Ronda quartz movement, GMT and date function, rotating bezel, GADA-riffic.

Later this week - Five for Friday Ernest Hemingway Edition. Oyster Homages, probably a Hamilton, a few adventure-worthy watches, and something you’d wear while drinking a daiquiri.

Watch500 brings you the best watches, usually $500 or less. Stay up to date on all things watches. Click here to subscribe.
